Hello! My name is Emily & I've been teaching music in some capacity since September 1995. You can see my full experience on my website www.emilychiet.com, but here I'll describe how I came to create this website & the tutorials therein.

As a credentialed public school music teacher from 2004-2022, I had to sit through my fair share of largely irrelevant professional development days...you know...the kind that are obviously geared toward the non-music teachers but that everyone has to sit through to check the box of "professional development." During one such PD day, the speaker was presenting methods for teaching English Language Arts & as part of that he used foldables. While the specific exercise was not relevant to me, I realized this could be a way of teaching the drier academic aspects of music in an accessible way! I spent that weekend brainstorming, making mock ups, & figuring out how to use foldables in my music classes. The very next week, I launched my new curriculum & by the next year I was presenting my methods at music teaching conferences & professional development sessions...you know...the kind that are actually helpful to music teachers!
